Chris Volschenk

Chris Volschenk

Chief Executive Officer
Chris has more than 20 years' executive management experience throughout the ICT sector, including 9 years in the IT and systems integration arena. Chris has been appointed as CEO: StorTech 1 November 2016.  Previous positions include CFO at StorTech (2009 - 2016), CFO at Vodacom Business (2007 - 2008), Group Executive Vodacom Strategy & Business Development (2006 – 2009), CEO at Fastnet (2004 – 2006), Board member at StorTech, X-Link, Fastnet and Telkom Directory services and Alternative Board member at Vodacom Group (1999 – 2006).
Brian Tarr

Takalani Mavhunga

Chief Financial Officer
Takalani Mavhunga has recently been appointed as StorTech’s Chief Financial Officer as of January 1st, 2018. Since 2008, he has held various senior finance roles at Dimension Data including Divisional Financial Manager, Financial Director responsible for the Dimension Data Broad Based Trust, board member for Dimension Data Botswana, Head of Finance for Dimension Data Gauteng, a trustee on the Dimension Data Group Provident Fund and being operationally involved in Dimension Data’s exploration to enter the Zambian market. Takalani is an experienced private equity investor and was a key stakeholder and business representative during the restructure of the Dimension Data’s finance organisation, including the set-up and operational oversight over their Limpopo office. Having graduated from the University of Witwatersrand, Takalani is a qualified chartered accountant with a value-based leadership style. Since 2013, he serves as treasurer of the board of the South African Mathematics Centre (MCIS) – an NGO in mathematics, science, technology and entrepreneurship education.

Chief Sales Officer
Deshan is an accomplished IT professional with over 22 years’ experience in the ICT industry across various disciplines, including sales, operations, services, products and management. He has been a respected leader in the management of enterprise sales teams for the last 10 years. He also has a proven ability to drive a high performing sales culture across organisations. He had previously worked at various blue-chip companies including IBM, Lenovo, Datacentrix and Oracle prior to joining Vodacom in 2015. His notable achievements and awards during his career at IBM/Lenovo include: Africa Manager of the Year, Outstanding Team Player, Outstanding Contributor and President’s Award.
Reshmee Ramsoonder

Reshmee Ramsoonder

Chief Human Resources and Commercial Officer
Reshmee Ramsoonder has 9 years' experience within the ICT sector. She has been the Chief HR Officer since July 2015. She plays a major role in the company's overall performance, leading organizational strategy, promoting operational effectiveness, and elevating team performance through innovative leadership. She has extensive experience in executive roles within the commercial, financial operations, cash flow and BBBEE environments. Reshmee was instrumental in the empowerment transformation of the business that has resulted in StorTech moving from a level 4 contributor to a level 1 contributor and now boasts with 64.38% Black ownership and 34.49% Black Women ownership.
Brian Tarr

Brian Tarr

Chief Products & Services Officer
A qualified Chartered Accountant by profession, he studied at Wits University and completed his articles at KPMG. He has held executive positions at Incredible Connection and Business Connexion (BCX). As the Managing Executive of BCX's Networks division, he was responsible for growing the Cisco business from $6m in FY04 to $46m in FY08. In February 2009, he founded AT Services, a dedicated Cisco services company, the only one of its kind in South Africa at that time. He then joined StorTech in 2010 as the Managing Director of StorTech Converged Communications, together with his hand selected team of Cisco specialists. He was appointed Chief Products & Services Officer of StorTech in June 2015, promoted to Exco and is now responsible for all technologies and solutions across StorTech. Brian has been in the ICT space since 1994 and is well respected in the industry.

Storage Technology Services (Pty) Ltd (StorTech) is extremely proud to announce that they have achieved a LEVEL ONE BBBEE rating in accordance with the new ICT sector codes.

Having improved from a Level Two to a Level One BEE contributor under the stricter ICT codes is indeed a feather in StorTech's cap and is reflective of their dedication and commitment to transformation.

How do we ensure that we do not merely comply with the codes, but are the best on every element of the codes? Through constant analysis, target setting and accountability across the board, from executive level filtering down into the different environments within StorTech to ensure sustainability of this strategic initiative. This bears testimony to StorTech's commitment to the South African market ensuring a business ready environment to the benefit of all.

StorTech's approach to skills development is to improve and motivate not just our own staff but to empower the youth of today through educational assistance, thereby bringing the future leaders of our country one step closer to achieving their goals.

This year's skills development and socio economic development spend were made to the deserving organisations of Midrand High School, Yenzani and Botshabelo. The students were recipients of laptops, tablets and educational vouchers, ensuring that they have the best possible support and access to technology, to enable them to reach their goals and fulfill their dreams.

We further invested in learnership programs focused on giving students exposure and experience to real live workplace situations, as well as mentorship from highly trained individuals in their respective fields. We are proud to announce that some of these deserving learners were absorbed into the employment of StorTech during the year.

The empowerment of SMME's is driven through free professional services and over the shoulder training and development. The utilisation of SMME's forms an integral part of our National footprint strategy. Added to this, StorTech provides practical assistance by offering preferential payment terms to SMME's. By settling invoices within 15 days, the company enables SMME suppliers to sidestep one of the greatest challenges facing small businesses: cash flow issues. Going forward, we will place more emphasis on teaming with Black Women to increase their presence in the business landscape.

Our defined recruitment process ensures that we have the right people on board, with deserving individuals being identified and placed on management development plans which includes formal and informal training, as well as mentorship and coaching.

What does this mean for our customers?
StorTech's customers can claim up to 26.3 preferential procurement points on their BEE scorecard, including the benefits of Black-ownership shareholding and level 1 BEE status, with procurement spend recognised at 135% and bonus points from being a designated group supplier.

CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENT

When it comes to CSI, StorTech is especially proud to have made a real difference to black youth. The company's focus is on health, welfare and education. It targets these areas by leveraging its key resource: technology. For instance, StorTech provided equipment for Botshabelo, a Midrand-based charity and place of safety accommodating 600 children, so that learners at the organisation's Urban Edu Centre are able to access quality education using laptops and tablets. It also supports the Botshabelo Uplifted Teacher Training Programme, providing free IT services to teachers so that they might hone their skills. The company's relationship with the Christ Church Christian Care Centre is another case in point, with StorTech having built two computer centres and donating groceries for children either orphaned, affected by HIV or hailing from child-headed households.

Stortech strives to ensure that our activities make a positive contribution to education enrichment and community development. The focus of StorTech's spend is on increasing access to technology, broadening technical horizons and increasing potential employment opportunities for the youth of today.

The first beneficiary of the Stortech's SED initiative is Botshabelo

This organisation operates a babies home which houses orphaned and vulnerable children. They offer as well an Urban Kids Educentre which is a fully functional pre-school for children from low income families.

Botshabelo also has a Teacher Training programme which supports 14 ECD centres within the Olievenhoutbosch community.

The second Beneficiary is Yenzani

Yenzani is a residential child and youth care centre in Midrand providing a home for abused, abandoned and neglected children. This sanctuary was started up so that children would have safe environment to live and grow and not be forced to go back to the homes of their perpetrators. The children of this home have been donated laptops, tablets and 3G access, with the intention that they have every opportunity to access information and education and to be able to reach their potential. The Yenzani team firmly believe that although their children have a difficult past, they have a brighter future.

The final beneficiary is Midrand High School

Midrand High School opened its doors in 1994. The learners of this school wear their uniforms proudly and were ecstatic with the donations that would give them greater access to the world of technology and educational enrichment. These deserving learners received, laptops, tablets and educational vouchers.

We look forward to seeing these beneficiaries light up the passages of tertiary education houses and become strong contributors to the economy of South Africa soon.
